Bio-Tec ‘Plus’ is a combined Pro- and Prebiotic ‘natural’ supplement, designed to deliver many digestive and nutritional benefits to many animal groups. Bio-Tec ‘Plus’ is made from natural ingredients and is non-toxic. The active ingredients in Bio-Tec ‘Plus’ are Bio-Tec Sc1-1077 live yeast, together with Inulin derived from purpose grown Chicory root.

How does it work? The live yeast ‘probiotic’ element helps to ensure the correct environment in the stomach of the host animal. Very important in dogs, where about 70% of the total digestive activity takes place. Slightly less so in rabbits and horses where only about 30% of digestive activity takes place in the stomach.

All mammals ‘ferment’ their food in order to free the nutrients present in that food. The ‘correct’ environment means the presence of the ‘preferred’ gut flora, which in turn means the optimal fermentation or breakdown of the food present. The yeast helps this process by affecting the Ph of the stomach in order to enable its own reproductive activity to take place. The chemical environment is then in turn favourable to the reproductive activity of the friendly, or helpful digestive bacteria.

Chicory Inulin ‘prebiotic’ is a range of sugars that are not digested by enzyme activity, but by bacterial activity in the gut. The sugars are consumed by helpful bacteria in the gut, and their numbers increase, ‘forcing out’ potentially harmful bacteria, such as e-coli and salmonella, by competitive exclusion.
